Welcome to Materia. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Service Description

Materia is an AI-powered food and recipe application that provides:

• Food recognition via camera scanning
• AI-generated recipes with detailed instructions
• AI-generated food images
• Meal planning (AI-powered and manual)
• Nutrition tracking and daily food logging
• Allergen detection and dietary filtering (including Halal/Pork-free)
• Water intake tracking
• Guided cooking mode (Zen Cooking)

2. Account & Authentication

• Sign in via Google, Apple, or continue as Guest
• You are responsible for maintaining your account security
• Guest accounts have limited functionality and data may not persist
• One account per person; account sharing is not permitted

3. Subscription & Payments

3.1 Free Plan

• 1 dish scan per day
• Unlimited recipe browsing
• 1 saved meal plan
• Basic nutrition display

3.2 Materia Pro

• Unlimited dish scanning
• AI-powered meal plans
• Zen Cooking Mode
• Advanced nutrition tracking (water, vitamins, fiber)
• Smart allergen alerts
• Portion adjustment
• Unlimited saved meal plans
• All future premium features

3.3 Pricing & Billing

• Weekly: $4.99/week
• Yearly: $29.99/year
• 3-day free trial available for new subscribers
• Payment processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• Cancellation: manage through your App Store or Play Store subscription settings
• No refunds for partial periods, except as required by applicable law or store policies

3.4 Free Trial

• 3-day free trial provides full Pro access
• Payment method required to start trial
• Cancel anytime during trial at no charge
• We send a reminder notification before trial ends
• If not cancelled, trial converts to paid subscription

4. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

All recipes, nutritional information, food images, and meal plans in Materia are generated by artificial intelligence (Google Gemini). While we apply validation and quality checks, AI-generated content may contain errors.

4.1 Recipes

• Recipes are AI-generated suggestions, not verified by professional chefs
• Cooking times, temperatures, and techniques may be inaccurate
• Ingredient quantities may not be optimal for all situations
• Always use common sense and food safety practices when cooking

4.2 Nutritional Information

• Calorie counts and macro values (protein, carbs, fat, fiber) are AI-estimated
• These values are approximate and should not be used for medical dietary management
• Actual nutritional content depends on specific ingredients, brands, and preparation methods
• Do not rely on these values for medical conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, or other conditions requiring precise nutritional control

4.3 Food Images

• Food images are AI-generated illustrations, not photographs of actual dishes
• Actual results will vary from generated images

5. Allergen & Dietary Liability

5.1 Allergen Detection

Materia's allergen detection system uses AI and keyword matching. It is NOT a medical device and NOT a substitute for professional allergen testing.

• We cannot guarantee detection of all allergens in all recipes
• Hidden allergens, cross-contamination, and trace amounts may not be identified
• Ingredient names in different languages may not be fully covered
• AI may miscategorize ingredients or fail to recognize allergen-containing compounds

5.2 Halal / Pork-Free Filtering

Materia offers a Halal/Pork-free convenience filter. This is NOT Halal certification.

• Our filter identifies common pork products (pork, bacon, ham, guanciale, pancetta, prosciutto, lard, chorizo, salami, pepperoni, mortadella, bratwurst, chashu, tonkatsu, gelatin/jelatin, etc.) using keyword matching
• The filter may NOT detect: hidden pork derivatives, pork-based food additives (E-numbers), animal-derived gelatin in processed foods, cross-contamination during preparation, pork-derived enzymes or emulsifiers
• Materia makes NO claim of Halal compliance under any certification standard (Zabiha, HMC, JAKIM, MUI, or any other)
• The slaughter method of meat used in recipes is unknown and not guaranteed
• Alcohol-containing ingredients may or may not be flagged depending on AI recognition
• Users following Halal dietary laws MUST independently verify all ingredients and preparation methods

5.3 Limitation of Liability for Dietary Features

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• Revolis, Materia, and its developers are NOT liable for any allergic reactions, health complications, religious dietary violations, or any other harm resulting from the use of allergen detection, dietary filtering, or Halal/Pork-free features
• By using these features, you acknowledge that they are AI-powered convenience tools with known limitations
• You assume full responsibility for verifying ingredient safety before consumption
• This applies to all AI-generated content including recipes, allergen tags, dietary labels, and ingredient lists

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code
• Abuse the AI features (excessive automated requests, scraping)
• Share your Pro subscription with others
• Upload harmful, offensive, or non-food content to the scanner
• Interfere with the App's infrastructure or other users' experience

7. Intellectual Property

• The Materia name, logo, and brand are owned by Revolis
• AI-generated recipes and images are provided for personal use
• You may share recipes through the App's built-in sharing features
• Commercial use of bulk exported content is not permitted without written consent

8. User Content

• Photos you take remain yours
• By scanning a photo, you grant us permission to process it through AI services
• Meal plans and food logs you create are your personal data

9. Service Availability

• We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service
• AI features depend on third-party APIs (Google Gemini) and may experience downtime
• We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice
• Saved recipes remain accessible offline once cached on your device

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• Materia is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim
• We specifically disclaim liability for health-related outcomes from using nutritional data, allergen filters, dietary tags, or Halal/Pork-free features

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Revolis from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to claims related to allergic reactions, dietary violations, or health complications.

12. Termination

• You may delete your account at any time (Settings → Account → Delete Account)
• We may terminate accounts that violate these Terms
• Upon termination, your data will be deleted per our Privacy Policy
• Active subscriptions must be cancelled separately through App Store / Play Store

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Istanbul, Turkey.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated through the App.
