Materia ("we", "our", "the App") is developed and operated by Revolis Studio. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. We do not store or access your Google/Apple password.
1.2 Guest Access
Guest users have an anonymous session. No personal information is collected until you sign in.
1.3 Food & Health Data
- Food preferences (favorite cuisines, dietary preferences)
- Food allergies and dietary restrictions (including Halal/Pork-free preferences)
- Scanned dish photos (processed by AI, not permanently stored)
- Saved recipes and meal plans
- Daily food logs, water intake, and nutrition tracking
- Nutrition goals and calorie targets
1.4 Usage Data
- App usage patterns and feature interactions
- Device type, OS version, app version
- Crash reports and performance data
- Language and region settings
1.5 Camera Data
Camera captures are sent to Google Gemini AI for food recognition, processed in real-time, and not permanently stored on our servers or by Google.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide personalized recipe recommendations
- Generate AI-powered meal plans
- Track nutrition goals and daily food intake
- Filter content based on allergies and dietary restrictions (including Halal/Pork-free)
- Display allergen and dietary warnings
- Send local notifications (if enabled)
- Improve app features and experience
- Process subscriptions through App Store / Google Play
3. AI & Third-Party Services
3.1 Google Gemini AI
Used for food recognition, recipe generation, translation, meal planning, and image generation. Data is processed per Google AI Terms. Images are not retained for model training on our paid API tier.
3.2 Supabase
Authentication, database, and file storage. See Supabase Privacy Policy.
3.3 RevenueCat
Subscription management. No access to payment details. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
4. Allergen & Dietary Disclaimer

Materia provides allergen detection, dietary filtering, and Halal/Pork-free identification as convenience features powered by AI. This information is NOT guaranteed to be complete, accurate, or reliable.
4.1 Allergen Warnings
- AI-generated allergen tags may contain errors or omissions
- Hidden allergens, cross-contamination risks, and trace amounts may not be detected
- Keyword matching may miss regional or brand-specific ingredient names
4.2 Halal / Pork-Free Filtering
- Our filter identifies common pork-derived ingredients (pork, bacon, ham, guanciale, pancetta, lard, gelatin, etc.) using keyword matching
- This filter may NOT detect all pork derivatives, hidden pork-based additives, or cross-contamination
- Materia does NOT provide Halal certification — our filtering is a convenience tool, not a religious authority
- Gelatin and certain additives may be pork-derived without explicit labeling
- We cannot guarantee compliance with specific Halal standards (Zabiha, HMC, etc.)
4.3 Dietary Tags
- Diet tags (vegan, vegetarian, keto, gluten-free) are AI-generated and may be inaccurate
- Automated validation is applied but errors can occur
If you have severe food allergies, religious dietary requirements, or medical dietary restrictions, you MUST independently verify all ingredients before consumption. Materia is not a substitute for professional medical or religious dietary guidance. Always consult healthcare professionals and religious authorities for dietary compliance.
5. Data Storage & Security
- Row Level Security (RLS) — your data is only accessible to you
- Encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- OAuth authentication (we never see your password)
- Regular security updates
6. Data Retention
- Account data: retained while account is active
- Camera images: real-time processing only, not stored
- After account deletion: all data permanently deleted within 30 days
7. Your Rights
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information via Settings
- Delete your account and all data (Settings → Account → Delete Account)
- Export your data upon request
- Withdraw consent for optional features
8. Children's Privacy
Not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Notifications
All notifications are local (on-device). No third-party notification servers. Configurable in Settings.
10. Advertising
Materia contains no advertisements. We do not sell or share data with advertisers.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be communicated through the App.
